HEAL's goal is to provide understanding, support and a circle of absolute safety to those who've endured and are trying to recover from emotional abuse. Care Circle Description: HEAL provides support in the form of individual coaching, peer support, information and many types of outreach within the community. HEAL's outreach is not limited to grass-roots support, but includes an effort to reframe the socio-cultural understanding of family violence throughout the all levels of social service providers, judicial, legislative and educational frameworks. The first circles HEAL facilitator-led peer support circles cover the Naugatuck Valley, but will soon be found throughout Connecticut and then beyond. A HEALing Newsletter is in development. Like the HEAL website, emotionalheal.org, it will cover topics essential to healthy self-regard, appropriate boundaries, toxic relationships and other critical subjects. HEAL holds the position that the best point of intervention is before the psyche has been set in stone. So partnerships with programs supporting youth is a seminal focus of our efforts. The HEALing Speakers Bureau is coordinating engagements in a variety of venues. HEAL believes that emotional abuse underlies every other "kind" of abuse, including physical, sexual, financial, ritual and child abuse. We hope to lead the way in disrupting dysfunctional cycles by helping to generate new-found respect for every individual throughout society.
